Film Archive

There is an enormous range of incredible films about the First World War on You Tube. We have chosen to match certain films according to the battles which killed the servicemen from Wokingham. Next to the ‘Film Archive’ menu is a section called ‘Battles Fought’, which lists  those soldiers who fought in which battle. For instance, a number of our servicemen were killed in Gallipoli. You can watch the superb documentary in the Film Archive and then go to the ‘Battles Fought’ list which will tell you who fought in this campaign. You can then read about their lives in Wokingham, which road they lived in and who their loved ones were. It is also possible for a photograph to be included too. We hope you will be able to picture the simple lives these men led and then contrasting it with the experiences they endured before giving up their lives. It is undeniable, the watching and the reading can be quite traumatic, but at the same time we can be uplifted by the idea that we spent a little of our time to remember these magnificent men of the small town of Wokingham.
