Arthur C Buckner. Died 5 Jan1917
Arthur was born in Easthampstead in 1884 son of Thomas and Sarah (nee Buckner). He had a brother, Albert William and 2 sisters Gertrude Mary and Harriet Elizabeth. The family lived in Waterloo Road, Wokingham. He also had an uncle James George Buckner. In 1911 Arthur was living with the Jackson family in Farnham and was working as a grocer’s assistant. He continued to do this until he enlisted into the 1/4th Royal West Surrey Regiment in Wokingham.
He spent some of his service at home ( ie Britain) from 06-06-1916 to 28-10-1916, but was in India http://www.1914-1918.net/queens.htm at the time of his death at the age of 33, from Malaria on 5th January 1917. He is buried there in Nowshera Military cemetery.
